The Poker is in a class of card games called "Games of Competition", in which players compete to win the prize by bluff (or delusion) that is, achieving a good combination of letters, which may or may not be revealed to opponents during the game. That detail in the rules of poker has not changed over the years, like in a poker game played in online casinos. Even today, the history of Poker remains a puzzle. There are scholars who believe that the name comes from the French "poker", which in turn derives from the German "pochen" meaning "beat, overcome." However, nobody can be sure if the game evolved from the "poker" or other card games.
One myth says that a Chinese emperor Mu-Tsung created called parallel play Poker in 970 AD, said to have been played with dominoes. A different hypothesis speaks of another played by the Egyptians in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, with hands ranking systems similar to those used in Poker.
In addition, the game has similarities with a Persian game called "as nas". That game was played with 25 cards and five different cards, and had a classification of hand very similar to modern Poker. Their roots are attributed to a Renaissance game called "first" with French "Brel".
There is a theory which states that "as nas" with Persian sailors migrated to New Orleans where the French colonists learned the game. As you can see, the history of poker left many clues for historians to study their origins. In 1829 Joseph Crowell, an English actor, spoke of a game played with a deck of 20 cards and four players who bet on combinations of cards of different values in his book Thirty Years Passed Among Players in England and America (Thirty years past between players in England and America).
In An Exposure of the Arts and Miseries of Gambling (An exhibition on the arts and miseries of the game) (1843), a book by H. Green, reported the release of the game along the Mississippi River, where he was a leisure activity in the riverboats.Another record of the game can be found in Sol Smith's book entitled Theatrical Management in the West and South for Thirty Years (theatrical management in West and South for thirty years).
Soon the 52-card deck of the English was used, mainly to allow more players play simultaneously, and with the American Civil War more elements were added, as the Flush and Straight (sequences). Draw Poker (Poker Equipment), referred to in Bohn's New Handbook of Games (New guide Bohn games) in 1850, and Stud Poker (Poker discovered) were introduced and the Poker was significantly boosted.
